Literacy Coalition of Madison County Grant Opportunity

The Literacy Coalition of Madison County is excited to offer four mini grant opportunities of $2,500 each to tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations in Madison County. The goal of these grant opportunities are to fund innovative projects in the areas of literacy services that focus on any of the following areas: health literacy, fiscal literacy, workforce development, family literacy, and summer learning.

The following guidelines are designed to furnish you with the information necessary to apply for a Literacy Coalition of Madison County grant. Each proposal is evaluated on its potential value to literacy needs in Madison County; funding requested aligns with funds available for disbursement; and the quality of planning, leadership, collaboration, support, and vision expressed in the application.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A GRANT?

  • located in, or providing services to residents of Madison County
  • classified as nonprofit charitable organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code; or publicly supported organizations such as school districts and municipalities
  • member of the Literacy Coalition of Madison County
  • precedence will be given to collaborative efforts among coalition members

Programs seeking to apply through a fiscal sponsor, or seeking an exception to any of the above policies, should consult with a member of the Managing Partners prior to submission. 

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE Grant proposal?

  1. Literacy Service: Successful projects will provide literacy services that align with the mission of the Literacy Coalition of Madison County – Raising literacy levels in Madison County through shared efforts of our members.
  2. Community Impact: Successful projects will address community needs through programs and activities that demonstrate sustainable impacts and measurable outcomes.
  3. Community Building: Successful projects build community connections, especially among diverse groups, and build mutual trust and reciprocity in community relationships.

HOW DO YOU SUBMIT A PROPOSAL?

Grant applications are available by request. To receive an application please contact Dyann Nashton. NOTICE OF GRANT DECISION

Applicants will be officially notified of approval or declination by letter following the Coalition’s July Managing Partner meeting.
